About SquadClock
I'm Frank Röseler, an independent developer in Germany, and I build SquadClock. There is no company, no investor and no team behind it. I write the app, this website and the blog myself.
Who builds it
I hold the youth coach certificate of the German Football Association (DFB), I'm training for the DFB C licence, and I coach an U9 team. On the touchline I know the situation I build SquadClock for: the clock is running, one kid wants to come off, another wants to go on, and every child should get a fair share of minutes. You have one hand free and your head in the game.
That's why the app shows you who has played how long while you make a substitution, and splits teams by playing strength. It works offline, because many pitches have no signal.
What SquadClock is
SquadClock is a match clock and substitution app for amateur and youth football. You record goals with assists, cards, time penalties and substitutions, plan matches and tournaments, and keep track of every child's minutes. It runs in the browser at app.squadclock.de and as an Android app.
Your data is stored on your device. The core features need no account, and the app contains no tracking and no ads.
How it is funded
The core features are free for good. Premium costs €0.95 a month or €9.95 a year, including 19 % VAT. It adds sync between your devices, season statistics, the tactics board and training planning with an exercise library. Synced data is end-to-end encrypted, so my server only stores data it cannot read.
The blog
In the blog I write about playing time, training and match day in kids' and youth soccer. Where a post draws on studies or association rules, I link the source in the text. I write every post myself.
